Announcing Promotional Campaign options
We have enhanced Promotional Campaigns with two additional Discount Rule options, making it easier than ever to create promotional campaigns! These options specifically target promotions where the quantity of products increases or if products have a variety of different prices, e.g., buy at least 3 products and pay only $4 each.
The options are:

$ Unit Price
The $ Unit Price allows you to easily specify the price at which the products should be sold at e.g. You may have a range of coffee mugs available for sale, ranging in price from $11.50 to $14, however you want to offer a campaign where if customers buy 2 they'll be able to buy them for $10 each.
Previously this would have been complicated to enter into Retail Express, but with the new $ Unit Price option it's incredibly easy!

Regardless of the starting price of the product, once they qualify for the campaign the customer will be able to buy them for only $10 each!

Buys at Least
The "Buys at Least" rule allows you to set a minimum quantity of products for the discount to qualify e.g. Buy at least 2 products to get 20% off. Previously the only option was to use the "Buys" rule, which required a specific quantity - not a minimum.
Buys at Least | Buys |
Minimum quantity | Specific quantity |
The benefits of the "Buys at Least" rule becomes obvious when you look at discounts that increase based on the quantity. Building on the "$ unit price" rule above:
- Buys at least 2 coffee mugs, pay $10 each
- Buys at least 5 coffee mugs, pay $9.50 each
- Buys at least 10 coffee mugs, pay $9 each
In the past you could only add a specific quantity, which made it difficult when offering increased discounts as the quantity increased. Each increase in quantity required a separate tier, or a new campaign altogether - there's a max of 3 tiers per campaign.
To implement the campaign above, you would have had to create the following Campaigns with tiers.
- Campaign 1:
- Quantity of 2
- Quantity of 3
- Quantity of 4
- Campaign 2:
- Quantity of 5
- Quantity of 6
- Quantity of 7
- Campaign 3:
- Quantity of 8
- Quantity of 9
- Campaign 4:
- Quantity of 10...and so on.
Now you can create the same offer in a single campaign with three tiers:

Difference between Buys and Buys at Least
As mentioned, the "Buys" rule allows you to create a rule for a specific quantity (not a minimum) e.g. Buy 2 get 20% off, buy 5 get 25% off etc. The Buys rule is great for when you don't want a customer to receive a discount on all products on the sale, only the specific quantity in the rule.
Let's compare the two when buying a mug that is normally $15 each
- Buy 2 discounted to $10 each
- Buys 3 - get 2 products at the discounted price of $10 each, one at full price of $15 each - total of $35

Using the Buys at least rule, for every unit purchased would receive the same discount after the "Buys at Least" quantity has been reached:
- Buy 2 for $10 each, total price of $20
- Buy 3 and receive the same discount of $10 each, total price of $30

Tip: These new options can be used in conjunction with existing Promotional Campaign rules and features e.g. Coupons.
