Quotes in Retail Express allow you to provide customers with product and pricing information without immediately processing a sale. Products can be added to the transaction and a total calculated while the order remains recorded as a quote.
In this video, we show you how to create a quote within POS. By creating a quote you can add the products and obtain a total, but without affecting the inventory or allocating stock to the sale.

Creating a New Quote
To create a quote, begin by creating a new sales transaction in POS, following the same initial process used for a standard sale.
Adding Products and Customer Details
Add the required products to the sales order.
Add the customer’s details to the transaction, then open the Invoice tab.
Marking the Transaction as a Quote
Select the Quote checkbox in the upper-right corner of the Invoice tab.
The transaction status displayed in the upper-right corner changes to Quote.
Select Finalise to complete the process. The transaction is now recorded as a quote.
How Quotes Affect Inventory
While the transaction remains in quote status, it does not allocate products to the customer or reduce the available inventory levels.
The quote records the products and prices for the customer without treating the transaction as a completed sale.
Converting a Quote to a Sale
When the customer is ready to proceed, locate the quote from the POS landing page and reopen the transaction.
As soon as a payment is entered against the quote, Retail Express automatically changes it from a quote to a regular sales transaction.
Complete the remaining payment and sale requirements as normal.
Manually Removing the Quote Status
Alternatively, open the Invoice tab and clear the Quote checkbox.
Select Finalise to save the changes. The transaction will then become a regular sales transaction.
