The Show Costs feature allows authorised staff to review product costs, pricing and gross profit while processing a sale in POS. This information can help staff determine an appropriate discount when a customer requests a price reduction.
This can be useful when making decisions regarding discounts, and how much flexibility your staff have when providing discounts to your customers.

The Show Costs feature provides authorised staff with product cost, pricing and gross-profit information while they are processing a sale. Staff can use this information to assess how much flexibility is available before applying a discount.
Using Product Costs to Make Discount Decisions
The Show Costs feature can assist staff when making discount decisions for particular sales transactions.
For example, a customer placing a large order may request a substantial discount.
Reviewing the total cost of sales and gross profit for the products in the transaction can help staff determine an appropriate discount level.
Opening the Show Costs Screen
From the Products tab, add the required products to the sale.
Select Show Costs to open the cost-information screen.
Controlling Access to Product Costs
Access to the Show Costs button is controlled through security profile settings.
This allows the business to determine which users can view product costs and gross-profit information in POS.
Reviewing Costs and Gross Profit
The Show Costs screen displays pricing, costs, gross profit and related information for the current sale.
The information is displayed at two levels:
- Each individual product line
- The complete order total
Staff can use these values to assess the potential effect of a proposed discount.
Reviewing the Effect of Discount Changes
Select Done to close the Show Costs screen.
Apply the required discounts or make other changes to the products in the sale.
You can reopen Show Costs to review how those changes have affected the costs and gross profit for the individual products and the complete order.
