An Outlet is a store or warehouse.
Each location is a separate Outlet and a separate license purchased from Retail Express.
There are two types of Outlets:
- Outlets, and
- Unmanned Warehouse
An unmanned warehouse is really just a storage location so you can order, receive and transfer stock but you can't log into POS, or process sales.
Let's look at how your Outlets work.
Let's say you have 5 stores and a warehouse. Each store has their own inventory levels so you can see what stock you have available or is already allocated to a sale, on order, getting transferred etc.
The Unmanned Warehouse has its own inventory too. For example, at the beginning of the season you might order all your stock and store it in the warehouse then dispatch it to your individual stores as you need.
In this situation you would have 6 Outlets in Retail Express 5 regular Outlets, and 1 Unmanned Warehouse.
Later, if you decided to integrate a web store and sell the stock straight from the warehouse you would need to upgrade the license to a regular Outlet, making 6 outlets and no Unmanned Warehouses.
Let's take a look at maintaining your Outlets in Retail Express.
Navigate to Settings > Locations/Outlets Outlets.
Your Outlets will be listed at the bottom of the screen.
You can see here I have 5 Outlets and and 1 Unmanned Warehouse.
Let's edit one of the Outlets.
Click the pencil icon.
The fields at the top of the screen are where we change the settings. Each field is covered in detail in our Knowledge Base so we'll just take a quick look around.
On the left you'll find the fields to identify your Outlet like name and your Company Registration Number. You can also set the currency, Store Type (for reporting) select your logo, and set a minimum quantity for Transfers.
In the middle column are your main contact details. Tick the "Display Address on Invoice" box if you'd like if you'd like to display this particular Outlet address on your Invoices and Receipts. If you don't tick the box Retail Express will use your default Global Settings instead which is great if you want all the stores to show the same information.
On the right are your additional details. Setting a Default Fulfil and Source Location is used for Home Delivery or Warehouse sales at POS. For example, I can configure my Outlet so that all home delivery or warehouse sales come straight from the Warehouse inventory and not my store. Take a look at our POS Fulfilment Video for more information on this feature.
You can also configure your bank details for outlet-specific statements, and set your default comments to display on your Purchase Orders, Receipts and Invoices.
When you've finished editing your Outlets click "Save".
