Placing a sale on hold allows you to temporarily leave an unfinished transaction and return to the POS landing page. Other staff can continue using the register while the original sale remains available to resume later.

Placing a transaction on hold temporarily saves the sale and returns you to the POS landing page. The transaction can later be resumed or voided when it is no longer required.
Placing a Transaction on Hold
From the current sales transaction, select Hold at the bottom of the screen.
Retail Express places the transaction into a holding state and returns you to the POS landing page.
Continuing to Use POS
While the original transaction is on hold, other users can continue using POS.
You can also perform other activities, including:
- Creating a separate sales transaction
- Accessing other available POS functions
- Returning to the held transaction later
Finding Sales on Hold
To resume a transaction, return to the POS landing page and select Sales on Hold.
Enter your user ID when prompted.
Retail Express displays the transactions that have previously been placed on hold at the current register.
Resuming or Voiding a Held Sale
Select the required transaction to resume working on it.
When the transaction is no longer required, select Void to cancel it instead.
Voiding an Open Sale
You can also cancel a transaction while it is open.
Select Void at the bottom of the sales screen.
Retail Express cancels the sale and changes its status to Cancelled. The transaction remains available for review through the relevant Back Office reports.
How Voiding Affects Inventory
When a sale is voided, Retail Express releases or reverses any associated inventory movements.
From an inventory-control perspective, the stock is returned to the position it would have been in if the sale had not occurred.
