The Shopify Connector Click and Collect feature combines the power of Retail Express? inventory management with the Shopify eCommerce platform to offer customers a powerful shopping experience online.
Let?s take a look at how it works.
For this example we're using a standard Shopify theme with our brand colours and the default Click and Collect styling. There's a range of options you can enable, disable and style with Click and Collect that we'll cover as we go.
On the product page, click the "Check Stock in Store" button.
Enter a post code and click search.
The map will update, marking store locations with a pin icon. Underneath the map is a list of Outlets. Each outlet will show the address and contact details as entered in Retail Express. Stock availability is shown on the right-hand side.
You can also select to show either a general In Stock or Out of Stock message or if preferred, the exact quantity available.
Once reviewing the options add the product to the cart.
Your customer will need to visit the cart page to select a pickup location so if you have any checkout shortcut buttons like "Buy it Now" they'll need to be removed.
In my Shopping Cart I have two products that I?ve selected. As I want to collect my stock from the store I click the "Store Pickup" button.
Entering the Post Code and searching I can again see a list of Outlets.
This time it displays the Stock Availability for all products in the cart marked with either a tick or a cross.
I select my Outlet and click Check Out.
The Check Out process remains the same in Shopify so the customer will be required to select a shipping method. For this, we recommend setting up a free price-based shipping zone.
Once the order has been placed Shopify emails the customer with an order confirmation and the order is synchronised to Retail Express.
Once the order is in Retail Express it's ready for the staff to process.
This can be done in either of 2 ways:
The first option is using the Fulfilment Report which is ideal if you're fulfilling stock from an Unmanned Warehouse and don't have access to POS.
The second option, the more common option, is to use the Point of Sale (POS).
From the POS home landing page an alert will be displayed on the side when there's a web order to be actioned.
Clicking the alert, we can see our online order. Opening the order and looking at the Fulfilment icon we can see this is a Pickup order.
On the Fulfilment tab we can see that our products are Available so we'll get the stock and set them aside for the customer.
As an optional step, we can click the invoice tab and email the customer to let them know their order is ready to collect.
When the customer collects their purchase we simply fulfil the order in Retail Express.
Retail Express will synchronise to Shopify to mark the order as shipped and Shopify will email the customer to confirm.
To use the Click and Collect feature you'll need to purchase a licence from Retail Express. Contact our Sales team for more information.
Once your licence is active you?ll be able to configure your Outlet options from within the Shopify Integration settings in Retail Express.
In Shopify you'll need to edit your theme code to install the add-on and customise how Click and Collect appears within your store.
Retail Express provides the code required but we strongly recommend engaging an experienced web developer to install and customise Click and Collect for you.
Detailed information on the entire Click and Collect feature including the installation code can be found within our Knowledge Base
