Customer Discount Groups allow you to assign customers to predefined discount rates and pricing structures. When a customer is added to a sale, Retail Express automatically applies the discount associated with their assigned group to eligible products.
In this video, we show you how to view your Customer Discount Groups and assign the customer to a new group from within POS. The Groups themselves are configured within the Back Office.

Customer Discount Groups provide a consistent way to apply predefined discounts to customers. After a customer is assigned to a group, the corresponding discount is automatically applied when they purchase products.
Viewing Customer Discount Groups
From the Customer tab in POS, select the Discount Group button.
Retail Express displays all preconfigured Discount Groups available for selection.
Configuring Discount Groups in Back Office
Discount Groups are created and configured in Back Office under System Settings.
They must be configured in Back Office before staff can view or assign them to customers from POS.
How Discount Groups Affect a Sale
When a customer is assigned to a Discount Group, products they purchase are automatically discounted according to the settings for that group.
When the customer is added to a sale, Retail Express updates the applicable products and applies the corresponding discount.
Changing a Customer’s Discount Group
You can manually change a customer’s Discount Group from POS at any time.
Open the Discount Group options and select the group you want to assign to the customer.
Retail Express updates the customer’s assigned group and applies the corresponding discount to applicable products in the sale.
Discount Group Security Permissions
Changing a customer’s Discount Group is controlled by user security permissions.
Staff must be authorised before they can assign customers to another Discount Group.
Automatic Assignment Using Loyalty Points
The Discount Group screen also includes a loyalty-points column.
Retail Express can be configured to automatically assign a customer to another Discount Group after they accrue a specified number of loyalty points.
The required points threshold and corresponding Discount Group are determined by the business when configuring its loyalty program.
