Your scheduled Retail Express platform upgrade has now been completed.
We recommend completing the following checks before continuing normal operations to ensure your POS, connected hardware and integrations are working as expected.
1. Launch Retail Express POS from Back Office and update your shortcut
After your upgrade, Retail Express POS will use the new POS address:
https://rex-pos.retailexpress.com.au/
However, do not open this address directly from your browser.
Your Retail Express POS address also needs to include your unique Client ID, which identifies and directs you to your Retail Express POS site.
The easiest way to ensure you are using the correct address after the upgrade is to launch POS from Retail Express Back Office first:
- Log in to Retail Express Back Office as normal.
- Click POS from the toolbar at the top of the page.
- Retail Express will open POS using the new address and your site's Client ID.
- Once the POS login page has opened successfully, you can save this page as a new browser bookmark, favourite or shortcut.
- Remove or replace any old POS bookmarks or shortcuts that point to the previous POS address.
Optional: You can bookmark your updated POS address for quick access to POS without needing to launch it from Back Office each time. To ensure the bookmark includes the correct Client ID and is set up correctly, please follow the instructions in Log in and out of POS.
If you have multiple computers or registers with saved POS shortcuts, please update the shortcut on each device.
2. Allow Local Network and Apps on Device access for Retail Express POS
Because Retail Express POS is now accessed from a new website address, your browser may require you to allow its site permissions again.
These permissions allow Retail Express POS to communicate with supported locally connected hardware, including:
- Receipt printers
- Integrated EFTPOS devices
- Other hardware communicating through the Retail Express Hardware Utility
After launching POS using the new address:
- Click the site information/settings icon next to the Retail Express POS website address.
- Select Site settings.
- Locate the following permissions and set both to Allow:
- Local network or Local network access
- Apps on device
- Return to Retail Express POS.
- Refresh the page.
The permission names may vary slightly depending on whether you're using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, but both permissions need to be set to Allow.
If your receipt printer or integrated EFTPOS device is not communicating with POS after the upgrade, these should be among the first settings you check.
If you operate Retail Express POS on multiple computers or registers, please check these permissions on each device.
For step-by-step instructions,
refer to Enabling Local Network and Apps on Device Access in Chrome and Edge for Retail Express POS
3. Check your connected hardware
Once you have enabled Local Network and Apps on Device access, we recommend confirming that the hardware you normally use with Retail Express POS is working as expected.
For example:
- Print a test receipt.
- Confirm your integrated EFTPOS device is communicating with POS.
- Check any other locally connected devices used by your stores.
If you operate Retail Express POS on multiple computers or registers, please complete these checks on each device.

4. Check your website and integrations
Some integrations may not have synchronised while your Retail Express site was undergoing maintenance.
If you use an online store or another system connected to Retail Express, please check that information is synchronising normally after the upgrade.
For online stores, including Shopify, we recommend checking:
- Recent online orders are appearing in Retail Express.
- Orders created during the maintenance period have successfully synchronised.
- Product and inventory updates are flowing as expected.
- There are no orders requiring manual attention or fulfilment.
5. Check any custom or third-party integrations
If you use a custom integration or an integration provided by a third-party developer or vendor, confirm that it is connecting successfully after the upgrade.
Retail Express REST API integrations must use the following supported base URL:
https://api.retailexpress.com.au/
If an integration is no longer working after your Retail Express upgrade, please contact the developer, integration provider or vendor responsible for the integration and ask them to confirm that they are using the supported Retail Express REST API base URL.
This is a base URL change only. Retail Express REST API endpoints, authentication, request and response formats, and existing API functionality have not changed.
For more information, refer to REST API URL Update.
Everything working?
Once you have:
- Launched POS from Back Office and updated your POS bookmark or shortcut
- Allowed Local Network and Apps on Device access in your browser
- Confirmed your POS hardware is working
- Checked your online orders and integrations
- Confirmed any custom integrations are connecting successfully
you can continue using Retail Express as normal.
If you identify an issue after completing the above checks, please contact Maropost Support and provide as much information as possible about the issue, including the affected outlet, register or integration.
