Serial Number Recording at POS
We’re excited to share that a long‑awaited feature is on its way: Serial Number Recording at POS. This feature will begin rolling out to customers throughout January and February 2026.

What is Serial Number Recording?
For years, many Retail Express users have requested the ability to track serial numbers for products sold and fulfilled through the system. This new feature provides the flexibility to record serial numbers at when selling items at POS, or later during order fulfilment, helping with warranty claims, recalls, traceability, and more.
Serial Number Recording allows you to define, at the product level, whether a serial number should be recorded before the item is handed over to the customer. There are three configuration options at the product level that determine the behaviour when it comes to selling and fulfilling the product, Serial Number Required, Optional or Disabled.
Where Are Serial Numbers Captured?
New icons appear next to each item in the POS order screen, giving a clear visual prompt for staff to complete serial recording where applicable.
- Red Barcode – Serial number required, not yet entered
- Orange Barcode – Serial number is optional, not yet entered
- Blue Barcode – Serial number has been successfully recorded
You can also specify and edit serial numbers in the Fulfilment Report in back office.
Back Office Changes
Support for Serial Numbers has been extended to several back office reports and product management features includng sales reporting, product mass download, fulfilment management and more. We’ve also extended various API endpoints to support this feautre. We’ve also added various settings for Serial Number Features:
