The New Neto Checkout is a modern, mobile-optimized enhancement to the Neto Managed Checkout. It delivers an improved checkout experience for customers while introducing updates to supported payment methods, configuration capabilities, and order processing behavior.
A key operational change is that orders are generated at the point of payment processing, rather than earlier in the checkout flow. If payment cannot be completed, the system automatically cancels the order. This improves visibility into failed payment attempts and helps reduce the number of incomplete order records.
The new checkout does not support the full range of payment methods and configuration options available in earlier Neto checkout versions. Certain features may also function differently depending on your store setup and the payment providers enabled.
Prerequisites
The new Neto checkout is being rolled out gradually.
To configure advanced integrations such as address validation or analytics tracking, you may also require:
- Access to the Neto control panel.
- Administrative permissions to modify checkout rules.
- A Google Cloud Platform account for Google Places API configuration.
Feature Breakdown
The following sections explain how order statuses are applied, along with the supported payment methods and the checkout, order, and shipping rules available in Neto.
Important: If the option to enable the new checkout does not appear in your Payment Method or Checkout Settings pages, it may not yet be available for your store.
Order Status Behavior
A major system change in the new Neto checkout is when orders are created and how payment failures are handled. Orders are created during payment processing and updated depending on the outcome.
This table explains the expected order statuses:
Payment Outcome | Expected Status | Description |
|---|
In progress | On Hold | The order is created while payment is processed, typically for only a few seconds. |
Success | New, Pick, or On Hold (configurable) | The order is approved and continues through the fulfillment workflow. |
Failed | Cancelled | An internal note indicates that payment could not be processed. |
Offline payment | New - Unapproved | The order is created but remains unapproved until handled manually. |
Supported Payment Methods

Step-by-Step Instructions
The following sections describe address validation setup and Google Analytics tracking configuration within the new checkout.
Configure Address Validation in the New Checkout
The new Neto checkout supports address validation using the Google Places API.
To enable this feature, you must generate a “Places API” key via Google Cloud Platform.
- Log in to your Google Cloud Platform Console.
- Search for Places API using the header search or the Marketplace tab.
- Follow the prompts to generate an API Key.
- Copy your generated API key.
- Navigate to the Neto control panel.
- Locate the field Google Places API Key under Checkout rules.
- Paste your API Key into the field.
- Click Save & Close.
Configure Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Tracking
Although the new Neto checkout supports GA4 tracking, it cannot load scripts from the GA4 Neto add-on.
To ensure checkout activity continues to be recorded:
- Go to Checkout Settings in your Neto control panel.
- Enable the new checkout if available.
- Enter your GA4 Measurement ID.
- Click Save & Close.
Important: Without adding the Measurement ID directly, the GA4 Neto add-on cannot track checkout activity in the new checkout.
Advanced Settings or Variations
The following section describes the updated card payment arrangement and the current limitations around custom scripts and field support in the new Neto checkout.
Stripe Generic Card Payment Form
The new Neto checkout allows merchants to display a consolidated card payment form instead of separating payment options by card type.
This removes the requirement for customers to manually select Visa, Mastercard, or American Express, since Stripe automatically processes all supported card types.
Unsupported Custom Scripts
Custom scripts are not supported in the new checkout environment.
Feature | Availability | Description |
|---|
Custom Scripts | Not Supported | Scripts will not be inserted in the new checkout experience. |
Warning: If your store relies on custom scripts for checkout functionality, those behaviors will not carry over to the new checkout.
Custom Fields Support
Support for custom fields is partially available in the new Neto checkout.
