About Canonical URLs
Canonical URLs are like a redirect for search engines when you have the same content with a different URL. A simple example is your home page, which may be found at www.mysite.com.au, but also mysite.com.au or www.mysite.com.au/index.html. All URLs display the same content, but can cause problems when search engines crawl your site. So to improve your SEO, you can set a Canonical URL to tell search engines (like Google) which URL you prefer to display to visitors to your site.
