This add-on was built by Maropost Commerce Cloud
Add-ons and Integrations built in-house by Maropost Commerce are documented and supported by our customer service team. If you’re having issues with this integration, let us know!
Highlights of the Maropost Commerce drop shipping add-on:
- Automate sending of orders to suppliers in PDF and other file formats.
- Supports multiple suppliers per order (orders can be split amongst multiple suppliers).
- Supports stock control per supplier.
- Custom order file formats per supplier.
- Supports suppliers logging into your control panel to process orders on your behalf .
Maropost Commerce can be used by both the drop ship supplier (manufacturer/wholesaler) and the drop ship seller (retailer). It’s also flexible enough to work with other ecommerce platforms and stock management systems.
Workflow
The diagram below displays how information moves between the supplier, seller and customer. This is a common workflow, but drop shipping can be set up and run a number of ways depending on the supplier or seller's systems.

-
The supplier sends the product lists and stock levels to the seller to display on their website or online marketplace (e.g. eBay, Catch, Amazon) accounts. Using Maropost Commerce, this data can be automated to send regularly to add new products and keep available stock up to date.
-
The seller publishes the products they want to sell on their website or online marketplace where customers can view them.
-
Customer makes a purchase and the order is created for the seller.
-
The seller sends the order to the supplier for fulfilment. Using Maropost Commerce, sales orders can be exported automatically on a regular basis and created in the supplier’s control panel.
-
The seller processes the order and dispatches the products directly to the customer. The order status is updated, and this information is sent to the seller to update the orders in their system. Using Maropost Commerce, the dispatched status and tracking information can be sent automatically and updated in the seller’s control panel automatically.
-
The supplier emails a dispatch notification and tracking number to the customer when the order is processed. Using Maropost Commerce, the email can mimic the seller’s brand and styling in the email to make it look like the order has come directly from where they purchased the product.
Set up Drop Shipping
How you set up drop shipping depends on a number of factors:
- Are you the drop ship supplier or seller?
- What system is the other party using?
- How does it connect to Maropost Commerce?
- How will data be transferred (file vs. API)?
The below set up guides assume you are using CSV data feeds to transfer products, stock level, and order information. CSV is a common format across many different systems due to its ease of use and reliability.
