Discounts and coupons are a great incentive to attract more shoppers to your site, and to increase cart size. There are a number of different discounts you can offer your customers however, to quickly create a discount you can choose from one of the three most common options, percentage off, free shipping based on spend, or free gift rewards.
After you create a discount using one of the predefined conditions, you can add more settings by clicking the discount ID. You’ll find examples of ways to set additional settings with each discount option.
Percentage Off
The percentage off discount is used to create a coupon code that will give customers a percentage off all products on their order. This is a great way to run a stocktake, clearance, or other store wide sale. It is also a great starting point to add specific products that the discount will apply to. To create a percentage off discount:

In your Maropost Commerce control panel navigate to Marketing > Discounts/Coupons.

If you don’t have any discounts setup, click Create A New Discount. If you do have discounts already, click Add Discount in the bottom right hand corner.

Choose Percentage Off.

Enter a Promotion Name, Discount Code, Discount, and the Start and End Date/Time. These fields are full explained in our Discounts/Coupons Overview.

Once complete, click Save. Your discount has now been created and will be available to customers within the date ranges selected.
Percentage off selected categories
To limit your discount to selected product categories, you can add additional conditions using the steps below.
- Edit the discount by clicking the ID.
- In the Discount Rules section select Category from the drop down box and click Add.
- Set the product category, and click Done or to add multiple categories, click + Or. This will allow you to add a second category condition, and select an additional category that will cause the discount to apply.
- Click Edit in the discounts, and change the drop down from All Products to Only Products In The Discount Conditions, and click Done.
- Click Save.
Free Shipping Based On Spend
Offer free shipping to your customers if their order reaches an amount that you define. Shipping cost can make or break sales, so a shipping discount is one of the best ways to encourage buyers. This can be further enhanced by requiring certain products are purchased, and/or only applying to specific shipping options.

In your Maropost Commerce control panel navigate to Marketing > Discounts/Coupons.

Free standard/regular shipping
Rather than offer free shipping through every service (including express and international), you can place a condition so that the shipping option needs to be a standard or regular service.
- Edit the discount by clicking the ID.
- In the Discount Rules section select Shipping Option from the drop down box and click Add.
- Enter in the shipping option name that you want to be free, and click Done.
- Click Save.
Free Gift Rewards
A free gift is a nice way to reward loyal customers, or as part of a social media campaign. You can also use it to move seasonal stock. The free gifts need to be existing products in Maropost Commerce so that they can be added and discounted correctly.
Please Note: Free gifts must be Active, Approved to show on Webstore, and available to the customer group. They cannot have a zero price, be hidden, a gift card or an editable kit.

Choose Create Free Gift Rewards.

Enter a Promotion Name, Discount Key, Required Product, Free Product**and the **Start and End Date/Time. These fields are full explained in our Discounts/Coupons Overview.

Once complete, click Save. Your free gift reward has now been created and will be available to customers within the date ranges selected.
Spend x and receive a free gift
Add a spend amount to qualify for a free gift, to encourage your customers to spend more.
- Edit the discount by clicking the ID.
- In the Discount Rules section select Product Subtotal from the drop down box and click Add.
- Enter the amount a customer must spend to get the free gift, and click Done.
- Click Save.
