You can streamline your campaign testing workflow and prevent accidental send-outs by setting up automatic test campaign subject line prefixes. This helps you immediately distinguish test emails from production campaigns in your inbox, reducing the risk of confusion during campaign development and quality assurance processes. When properly configured, this feature helps maintain a clear separation between test and live campaigns, supporting better campaign management practices.
Setting up default test prefixes also helps teams collaborate more effectively by ensuring everyone can quickly identify test emails while protecting your brand reputation by preventing test content from accidentally reaching real subscribers during campaign development.
Marketing Cloud enables you to set up a default phrase that will automatically be attached to the subject line of all your test email campaigns.
This feature can be very helpful in distinguishing a test email in the inbox. For example, you define the phrase "TEST ONLY!" in the settings. Now, if you send a test email campaign to yourself with the subject line "Monthly Revenue Report," you will receive the email with the subject line "TEST ONLY! Monthly Revenue Report."
Steps to set up a default phrase for all your test campaigns' subject lines:
1. Click your username in the top-right corner of your application, then from the drop-down menu, select Settings.
2. On the Settings page, in the Campaigns section, click Test Campaign Subject Line.
3. On the Test Campaign Subject Line page, enable the 'Include Custom Email Subject Line in all Test Campaigns' check box. Then, enter the phrase that you want to set up for your test email subject line.
4. Click Save Changes.
