Text Campaigns represent a high-performance mobile marketing channel with measurably superior open rates compared to email and other digital communication methods. Maropost Marketing Cloud supports broadcasting text messages to segmented contact lists comprised of users who have explicitly opted in to receive promotional communications. Given that messages are typically read within minutes of delivery, this channel is particularly well-suited for time-sensitive campaigns requiring immediate audience response.
From a performance standpoint, text campaigns consistently rank highest in open-rate metrics across all marketing channels, with an average read time of under 3 minutes post-delivery. This responsiveness makes these campaigns a critical component of any multi-channel marketing strategy, especially where rapid customer engagement or conversion is the primary objective.
However, the high deliverability and intrusiveness of text messages require marketers to maintain strict content governance and regulatory compliance. Messages must be purposeful and relevant to the end recipient to minimize opt-out rates and avoid violations of applicable messaging regulations. When implemented with the appropriate compliance frameworks and audience segmentation, text campaigns can drive substantial engagement while sustaining subscriber trust and long-term list health.
Before You Begin: Check Your Compliance
In order to activate the text messaging feature, you must complete a pre-screening assessment to ensure your text (SMS & MMS) marketing program is compliant with the regulations. To know more about the compliance regulations, see Introduction to Text Compliance.
Managing Text Campaigns
To access this feature, visit the navigation panel, click on Marketing > Campaigns, and select Text Campaigns from the expanded menu.
Note: If you are unable to see the text campaigns index page, kindly contact your customer success manager to start the activation process.
The Text Campaigns index page serves as the central hub for viewing, managing, and creating text campaigns. New campaigns can be initiated by clicking the Compose Your Message button (see our Creating Text Campaigns article) or by duplicating an existing one.
Remember that once a campaign has been sent, it can no longer be modified. However, campaigns that haven't been sent yet are editable and can be updated or deleted as needed.
For guidance on managing contacts for your text campaigns, refer to our Contact Lists Overview Page article. To monitor campaign performance and access key metrics, navigate to the campaign dashboard. For a detailed walkthrough, see our Text Campaign Dashboard article.
Force Stopping a Text Campaign
During campaign delivery, there may be instances where you need to immediately halt an ongoing campaign, whether due to required content changes, audience adjustments, or scheduling modifications. For such scenarios, you can force stop a text campaign that is currently in the "Paused" status.
Important: Take precautions before initiating a force stop request, as this action cannot be reversed.
Follow the steps shown below to Force Stop a text campaign:
- Select a text campaign in the "Paused" status. Click the three-dots icon under the Actions column and choose Force Stop from the dropdown menu.
- A confirmation dialog box will appear, prompting you to verify your action. Click "Yes" to confirm, and the system will immediately force stop your text campaign.
