đź“‹ Note: Maropost provides a predefined footer as a default footer. However, you can select a custom footer as the default footer for your account. Scroll down to 'Managing Custom Footers' to learn how to do it.
Managing Custom Footers
You can create new and manage previously created footers on the Footer Management index page. To access the index page, in Navigation, go to CONTENT, and then select Footer Management.
The following screenshot shows the Footer Management index page and highlights the navigation steps and available actions:
Here is the list of actions available for the custom footers:
- Set as Default – Sets the footer as the default footer for your account. When you select a custom footer as the default footer, the Maropost predefined footer in all the previously created content is automatically overridden by the new default footer.
- Preview Footer – This shows a preview of how the footer will appear in the email campaigns.
- Edit Footer – Enables you to edit the footer.
- Delete Footer – Deletes the footer permanently.
Creating a Custom Footer
To create a custom footer, do the following:
- On the Footer Management index page, click New Footer.
- On the New Footer page, enter a name for the footer.

- Design the content of the footer using the WYSIWYG editor, which is similar to most word processors. You'll find that the editor is pre-populated with the standard footer content based on your account details. You can build on this content, making changes as you need.
The editor enables you to insert tags for personalizing the footer content. If you already have HTML code that you want to reuse, click the Source icon to open the source code view of the editor and paste your code into it.
✔️ IMPORTANT: The footer content must have an address tag {{campaign.address}} and an unsubscribe link tag {{campaign.unsubscribe_link}}, {{campaign.unsubscribe_url}} or {{campaign.one_click_unsub_url}} to comply with the anti-spam legislation.
- Optionally, select the custom preference pages that you wish to use in the footer.
đź“‹ Note: If you don't have custom preference pages, you can simply use the default preference pages provided by Maropost. Use campaign tags within the footer content to redirect customers to the selected preference pages.
The following shows the preference pages supported within the footer and the campaign tags that you can use:
- Manage Subscription Page – Use {{campaign.unsubscribe_link}} tag or {{campaign.unsubscribe_url}} tag.
- Profile Page – Use {{campaign.edit_profile}} tag.
- Report Spam Page – Use {{campaign.report_spam}} tag.
- 1-Click Unsubscribe Page – Use {{campaign.one_click_unsub_url}} tag.
- Click the Save Footer button to create the footer.
