The Meta Integration in Maropost Marketing Cloud allows you to connect your Facebook pages to your Marketing Cloud account using Meta's API. Once connected, you can receive leads from Facebook Lead Ads directly into your Marketing Cloud contact lists and send segmented contacts to Facebook Custom and Lookalike Audiences.
Connection is established through OAuth authentication, a secure, token-based login method that links your Facebook account to Marketing Cloud without storing your Facebook password. Each connected Facebook page appears as an individual tile on the Facebook Connections index page, where you can monitor connection status and manage the integration.
Note: Marketing Cloud does not allow you to perform actions on Facebook from within the platform. The integration is used to fetch contacts from Lead Ads and to push segmented contacts to Facebook audiences only.
Prerequisites
Before connecting a Facebook page, ensure the following conditions are met:
- You have an active Maropost Marketing Cloud account with access to the Integrations section.
- You have an active Facebook account with admin access to at least one Facebook page.
- Your Facebook account has access to the pages you intend to connect.
- Your account is not a UID (User Identity) account. The Add New button is disabled for UID accounts.
Navigating to Facebook Connections
Follow the steps shown below to access the Facebook connections page:
- Log in to your Maropost Marketing Cloud account. Navigate to App Store.
- Locate the Meta tile. The tile description reads, “Integrate your leads and segmented contacts with your Meta account.”
The Facebook Connections index page displays all currently connected Facebook pages. Each tile shows the page name, profile image, connection status, and the date and time the connection was last refreshed.
Adding a New Facebook Connection
To connect a Facebook page to your Marketing Cloud account, you must authenticate with Facebook via Meta's API. This process retrieves a list of pages your Facebook login has access to, from which you select the page to connect.
- After successful authentication, a picklist of Facebook pages associated with your Facebook login is returned.
- Select the Facebook page you want to connect from the picklist.
Once a page is selected, the connection is established, and the page's title and profile image appear as a new tile on the Facebook Connections index page with a “Connected” status.
Important: Each Facebook page must be connected individually. Repeat this process for each additional page you want to connect.
Managing Existing Facebook Connections
Each connection tile on the Facebook Connections index page provides three management actions: Refresh, Disable or Enable, and Delete.
- Locate the Facebook page tile you want to refresh on the Facebook Connections index page and click Refresh.
- The system will redirect you to the Facebook login page to confirm the action. The “Last Refreshed” timestamp on the tile updates to indicate the refresh was completed successfully.
- Furthermore, if you wish to deactivate a connection, hover over the connection tile and click Disable. To restore the connection, click on Enable, which reverts the status back to “Connected.”
- To remove a connection entirely, locate the Facebook page tile and click on Delete.
Warning: Deleting a connection permanently removes it from Marketing Cloud. This action cannot be undone. You will need to re-authenticate and reconnect the page if you want to restore the connection.
The table below summarizes the available actions and their outcomes:
Action | Description | Outcome |
|---|
Refresh | Re-syncs the connection with Meta's API | Updates the Last Refreshed timestamp and re-validates the access token |
Disable | Temporarily deactivates the connection | Connection status changes to Disabled; the Enable option replaces Disable |
Enable | Reactivates a previously disabled connection | Connection status returns to Connected |
Delete | Permanently removes the connection | The tile is removed from the index page and cannot be recovered |
Connection Status Reference
Each Facebook page tile displays a status badge indicating the current state of the connection. The following table defines each status.
- Connected: The Facebook page is successfully authenticated and active. Data sync with Meta's API is enabled.
- Disabled: The connection has been manually deactivated. No data syncs occur while a connection is disabled.
- Needs Attention: The connection has encountered an issue and may require re-authentication or a manual refresh to restore normal operation.
Note: If a tile shows a Needs Attention status, click Refresh on that tile to attempt to restore the connection. If the status persists, delete the connection and re-add it by following the steps in Adding a New Facebook Connection.
