The Chatbots page lets you create and manage AI chatbots that support shoppers directly on your storefront. By connecting a chatbot to your store and providing it with relevant business, policy, and product information, you can help shoppers find answers to common questions without relying on a support agent for every enquiry.
Each chatbot can be configured for a specific store, with its own appearance, greeting, quick prompts, and knowledge sources. This gives you control over both how the chatbot looks and the information it can use when responding to shoppers. From the Chatbots page, you can create new chatbots, review existing ones, check their status, and open them for further configuration or updates.

To access your chatbots:
- From the navigation panel, expand Da Vinci AI.
- Select Chatbots.

Select Appearance to configure how the chatbot widget is presented on your storefront.
A preview is displayed alongside the configuration options so you can review changes as you customize the widget.
Add a brand logo
Under BRAND LOGO, upload the image you want to display in the chatbot.
Once you add the logo, it is reflected in the Preview section on the right, allowing you to see how it will appear in the chatbot.
We recommend an image size of 160 × 160 px and supports PNG, JPG, and GIF images up to 5 MB.
Configure widget colors
Use Primary Color to set the main color used by the chatbot.
You can select an available preset or specify your own color using Use Custom Color.
Use Text Color to control the color of text displayed within the widget.
Review the Preview panel as you make changes to confirm that the selected colors work together.
Choose the widget position
Under Widget configuration, select where the chatbot launcher appears on the storefront:
Add a greeting message
Use Greeting message to enter the message displayed when a shopper opens the chatbot.
For example:
Hi! How can I assist you today?
The current field supports up to 500 characters.
The Greeting message is displayed as the first message when a shopper opens the chatbot.
Configure quick prompts
Use QUICK PROMPTS to provide predefined options that shoppers can select when beginning a conversation.
Enter the prompt text and click ADD PROMPT to add another option. Existing prompts can also be removed when they are no longer required.
- Click SAVE CHANGES after completing the appearance configuration.
- Once you click SAVE CHANGES, a success notification appears: Success: Appearance Settings updated successfully. You are then redirected to the Knowledge Base page, where you can configure the information sources used by the chatbot.
Configure the Knowledge Base
On the Knowledge Base page, you can manage the sources of information the chatbot uses to generate responses for shoppers.
Existing information appears under Connected Sources. You can also provide additional information through the ADD NEW SOURCE area.
If you are configuring the chatbot for the first time, the Connected Sources section is initially empty. Your connected sources appear here after you add and configure knowledge sources for the chatbot.
Knowledge sources for MCC Sales Channels
When the chatbot is connected to an MCC Sales Channel, supported storefront content is automatically added to its knowledge base. This includes the homepage and active content from the Sales Channel's pages and policies.
The chatbot knowledge base remains synchronized with the connected MCC Sales Channel. Changes to page text, newly added pages, and changes to page active or inactive states are reflected without requiring the merchant to manually update those sources.
Add additional knowledge sources
You can supplement the connected store content using the available source options:
Source | What it does |
|---|
WEBSITE URL | Adds text from specified website pages to the chatbot knowledge base. |
KB QUESTIONNAIRE | Lets you provide additional business information through a questionnaire. |
UPLOAD FILES | Adds information from supported files to the chatbot knowledge base. |
When using WEBSITE URL:
- Select Entire Website (Displayed by default)
- Enter the URL of the page you want to add.
- Click ADD PAGE.
- Add any additional pages required.
- Click EXTRACT TEXT.
- Once you click EXTRACT TEXT, a success notification appears: Success: Website pages are being processed. The selected pages are then processed and added to the chatbot’s knowledge base.
- The content is then processed so that the chatbot can use it when responding to shopper questions.
Add information using the KB Questionnaire
Select KB QUESTIONNAIRE when you want to provide business and support information directly instead of importing it from a webpage or file. Click FILL QUESTIONNAIRE to open the Knowledge Base Questionnaire.
The questionnaire asks for information about your business, products, policies, customer-support processes, and other operational details. Enter the relevant information in each field. Some questions are highlighted as Important to help you identify key information for the chatbot.
After completing the questionnaire, click GENERATE KNOWLEDGE BASE. The information you provide is used to create a knowledge source that the chatbot can reference when responding to shoppers.
After you complete the questionnaire and click GENERATE KNOWLEDGE BASE, a success notification appears: Success: Knowledge base questionnaire saved successfully.
The questionnaire is then added to Connected Sources, where you can see it listed as an uploaded knowledge source for the chatbot.
Upload files as a knowledge source
Select UPLOAD FILES to add existing documents to the chatbot’s knowledge base.
You can drag and drop a file into the upload area or click UPLOAD to select a file from your device. The current page supports MD (preferred), TXT, and PDF files, with a maximum file size of 5 MB.
After the file is uploaded successfully, a notification appears confirming the upload, for example: Success: File "[file name]" uploaded successfully.
The uploaded file is then added to Connected Sources, where you can see its name and upload status.
Preview the Chatbot
Use the PREVIEW panel while configuring the chatbot to review how it appears to shoppers.
The preview can help you verify elements such as the:
- logo and store name;
- widget colors;
- greeting message;
- quick prompts; and
- overall chatbot presentation.
Make any required adjustments before activating the chatbot.
Activate the Chatbot
When you have completed the configuration, click ACTIVATE CHATBOT.
Once activated, the chatbot becomes available on the connected storefront. It also appears on the Chatbots page, where you can view its store, status, creation date, last modified date, and available actions.
Review Chatbot Conversations
The Conversations page lets you review the interactions shoppers have had with a chatbot. This can help you understand the questions shoppers are asking and review how the chatbot responded during each conversation.
Access Conversations
To view conversations for a chatbot:
- Go to Da Vinci AI > Chatbots.
- Locate the chatbot you want to review.
- Under Actions, click the three-dot menu.
- Select Conversations.
The Conversations page opens for the selected chatbot.
Understand the Conversations Page
The page is divided into two areas.
On the left, you can see the conversations recorded for the chatbot. Each conversation shows the shopper name when available, or Anonymous visitor when the shopper is not identified, together with the number of messages and the date and time of the conversation.
Select a conversation from the list to view its full transcript on the right.
The conversation transcript shows the messages exchanged between the shopper and the chatbot in the order they were sent. The chatbot name and logo appear at the top of the transcript, helping you confirm which chatbot the conversation belongs to.
If there are multiple pages of conversations, use Previous and Next at the bottom of the conversation list to move between pages.
