Collection Campaigns allows merchants to schedule merchandising rules for Smart Collections in advance. This helps you prepare collection-level merchandising changes for events such as seasonal sales, Black Friday, product launches, or short promotional periods.
Instead of manually activating or removing rules at the right time, you can create a campaign, set its schedule, and add merchandising rules that apply only during that campaign period.
When the campaign is live, the configured rules can change how products appear in the selected collection. After the campaign ends, the scheduled rules stop applying.
How Collection Campaigns Work
Each campaign defines a scheduled merchandising window for a specific collection strategy. Once the campaign is saved, merchandising rules can be added to control which products are promoted, included, or excluded during that scheduled period.
Each merchandising rule is linked to a collection and includes one or more conditions. These conditions define which products the rule applies to and what action should be taken.
Available rule actions include:
Action | Description |
|---|
Promote | Moves matching products higher in the collection results. |
Include | Includes products that match the selected condition. |
Exclude | Removes matching products from the collection results during the campaign. |
Rules inside a campaign must stay within the campaign’s scheduled date range.

Merchandising Rule Fields
The rule condition controls which products are affected by the campaign rule.
Field | Description |
|---|
Action | Defines whether matching products are promoted, included, or excluded. |
Field | Defines the product attribute used for the condition, such as brand, color, discounted price, compare at, or size. |
Value | Defines the specific value that products must match. |
Example: If you select Promote, choose Size as the field, and select 28 as the value, products matching size 28 are promoted within the selected collection during the rule schedule.
Final Outcome
After the campaign and merchandising rule are saved, Merchandising Cloud applies the rule to the selected collection during the scheduled period. Shoppers see collection results based on the active campaign rule, such as promoted or excluded products.
Once the campaign ends, the scheduled rule stops applying and the collection returns to its usual merchandising behavior.
