Create a New Referral
New referrals can be created when you are discussing Maropost Commerce as a solution to a potential client. With a referral you can get help or clarification on:
- Which subscription plan is suitable.
- If the platform can achieve the requirements of the client.
- If you need help answering questions.
- Setting up a joint demo with the client.
Referrals should only be created before the client has agreed on:
- Using Maropost Commerce as their platform.
- Scope of work involved.
- Terms of your service.
If the client has already agreed to these, you can instead create their webstore for them.
Tip: All staff with access to your partner portal will have access to add and edit your referrals. To view your staff with access click your profile name and then click My Account.
To create a new referral:

In the partner portal, navigate to Tools > Submit a Referral.

Enter the details of the new referral
On submission of the form your referral will be created, and you’ll be able to see the details of your new referral. Maropost Commerce will then associate this referral with your partner account.
Access your Referrals
In the partner portal, navigate to Tools > View Referrals. Here you can view all the referrals that are associated to your account including:
- Referrals you submitted to Maropost Commerce.
- Referrals sent from Maropost Commerce to you.
Click on the column headers to change the way they are sorted, or search for a referral in the search box. You can search by and field except the date created.
Edit Referrals
To edit the notes, stage, or referral value field of your referrals:

In the partner portal, navigate to Tools > View Referrals.

Use the search box to find the referral you want to open, and click on the referral number to open it.

Click the Edit button in the top right corner of the page. You can now:
- Add additional information in the notes field.
- Update the stage (new, won, lost etc).
- Update the referral value field.

Click the Save button when complete.
Referral Stages
In every referral, there is a Stage field that should be updated as you are working on the referral.
To ensure that Maropost Commerce are effective in working with the correct partners it is important that we know the stages of the referrals, and increase the visibility between Maropost Commerce and our Partner network. By updating your stage, staff at Maropost Commerce are able to help answer enquiries when a client calls, and they can see the progress that is being made.
The are various stages available to choose from which include:
New
When a referral has been sent to you it will be in the New stage. This is the first introduction and the source of the referral can be from the Maropost Commerce Partner Directory or from an internal employee at Maropost Commerce.
In Progress
Once you have contacted the client and are in discussions with them regarding their enquiry, the referral can be updated to In-Progress.
Won
When you have been successful in closing the referral with the client and they have engaged you to complete an agreed scope of work.
Lost
If you’ve been unsuccessful in closing the referral with the client and will not be completing an agreed scope of work with the client.
Junk
If a referral is submitted, but there is not enough information to proceed, or if someone has submitted a referral with fake details, change the stage to Junk.
Referral Types
The referral type field is used to indicate the source of the referral. It helps define when Maropost Commerce has sent a lead to a partner, or when a partner has introduced a new client to Maropost Commerce. This helps to define who is responsible for contacting the customer.
Maropost Commerce > Partner
Enquiries made from the Maropost Commerce Partner Directory, or from an internal Maropost Commerce Staff member. It indicates the referral is looking for services to help them on the Maropost Commerce platform. You, as the partner, are responsible for following up with the client, scoping out the agreed work, and closing the referral.
Partner > Maropost Commerce
When you have a new potential client that needs to be on-boarded to Maropost Commerce and you are in discussions with the client. You can submit the referral through the process above.
The referral will be allocated to your partner manager who will contact you to discuss the client’s requirements.
