Custom Gift Cards provide a flexible and efficient way for merchants to incentivize purchases, manage refunds, run promotional campaigns, and offer store credit. Unlike traditional gift cards that are purchased by customers, Custom Gift Cards are created and controlled by the business, making them a powerful tool for managing customer loyalty, issue resolution, or promotional credit.
Custom gift cards are manually created by administrators for specific recipients and are not available for storefront purchase. These gift cards can carry a fixed value, include expiry settings, and are delivered via email. Each card has a unique code and is tracked through its full lifecycle—from creation to redemption.

go to Gift Cards >> Custom Gift Cards
When you navigate to the Custom Gift Cards section, you’ll see all existing custom gift cards in the system. Gift Cards are displayed with the most recently added cards appearing at the top — making it easy for you to track the latest activity at a glance.
Overview of the Custom Gift Cards Page
The Custom Gift Cards page provides a tabular view of all manually created gift cards in the system. Each row contains vital information that helps merchants stay in control of issued credit.

Code | A unique identifier for the gift card. The code is masked (e.g., **** VL9A) for security. |
Contact | The contact associated with the card (typically the person issuing it). |
Recipient | The email address of the card recipient. |
Status | Indicates whether the card is currently Active or Inactive. |
Initial Balance | The original balance assigned to the card when created. |
Current Balance | Remaining funds on the card. This updates automatically as the gift card is used. |
Date Added | Timestamp of when the gift card was created. Supports sorting by newest or oldest. |
Creating a Custom Gift Card
To create a new custom gift card, click the Create Custom Gift Card button (top right) to launch the create page.
Clicking the Create Custom Gift Card button opens the gift card creation page, where you can enter all required details.General Information.
Under the General Information section, you can define the key details of the gift card:
- Initial Value (required): Enter the monetary amount to be assigned to the card. This balance will be immediately available upon activation.
- Email (optional): Add the recipient’s email address if you'd like to associate the gift card with a customer or to send the card directly over e-mail.
- Gift Card Message (optional): Write a personalized note that will be included with the card, perfect for rewards, apologies, or promotional touches.
Expiration Date
Merchants have two options for setting the card's validity:
- No Expiration Date: Select this if you want the gift card to remain valid indefinitely.
- Set Expiration Date: Choose this to define a specific date when the card will expire.
Status
Use this dropdown to immediately set the card as Active or Inactive. This gives you the ability to pre-create cards and activate them only when needed — useful for scheduling or internal approval processes.
Image
This section allows you to upload a visual representation of your gift card. You can drag and drop a file or use the Upload button to manually select an image. This image will be associated with the card and may appear in customer communications depending on how the card is issued.
Final Steps
After completing all required fields, click Save to create the gift card. You will see a notification confirming “Custom Gift Card Created Successfully” and it will now appear in your list of Custom Gift Cards.
Editing Gift Card Details
Once a gift card has been created, you can manage or edit its key attributes directly from the Custom Gift Cards page by clicking on the gift card code (e.g., **** **** **** 1OG0). This opens a detailed view of the specific card, allowing you to make changes or take further action as needed.
This functionality ensures that gift cards remain flexible and relevant throughout their lifecycle, supporting use cases such as customer service adjustments, expiration extensions, and balance verification. On this page, you can

- Set or Update the Expiration Date
You can adjust the expiration date of a gift card at any time by clicking on the pencil icon beside the Card image. This is useful for reissuing cards or complying with legal requirements in specific regions. If no date is set, the card will not expire unless manually deactivated.
- Email the Gift Card to a Recipient
Use the “Send Gift Card” button in the top right to email the gift card directly to the intended recipient. This is helpful if the original email wasn’t received or the card needs to be re-shared.
- Add Internal Notes
The “Write Internal Notes” field allows admins to leave context-specific comments such as reasons for manual updates or customer support actions. These notes are not visible to customers but help maintain a clear audit trail within your team.
