Promotions allow merchants to create and manage discounts that can be applied during checkout without changing the original product price. They are useful for running campaign-based offers, customer-specific discounts, product-specific discounts, free shipping promotions, and quantity-based offers.
The Promotions page acts as the central place to view, create, and manage promotion records. From this page, merchants can review existing promotions, check whether a promotion is active, and create new promotions based on how the discount should apply to the customer’s order.

Promotions Page Overview
The Promotions page shows the list of promotions available in the system. This gives merchants a quick view of the promotions that have already been created and whether they are currently active, expired, scheduled, or inactive.
From this page, merchants can also start creating a new promotion by clicking New Promotion. Existing promotions can be reviewed from the list so teams can confirm what discount is running, when it is active, and how it is configured.
Creating a New Promotion
A new promotion is created from the Promotions page by selecting New Promotion.
This opens the promotion setup flow where the merchant first adds the main promotion details and then selects how the discount should be applied.
The first part of the promotion setup captures the basic information for the promotion. These details help identify the promotion internally and explain what the promotion is intended to do.
Field | Description |
|---|
Title | Enter the internal name of the promotion. This name appears in the Promotions list and helps identify the promotion. |
Description | Enter additional details about the promotion. This is useful for explaining the purpose, audience, or campaign context. |
Choose Discount Method | Select whether the promotion is Order Based or Product Based. This determines whether the discount applies to the full order or only to selected products. |
Order Based Promotions
Order Based promotions apply the discount to the full order/cart value. These are useful when you want to give customers a discount based on the overall purchase, such as a fixed amount off the order, a percentage discount on the total cart, or free shipping.
Order Based Promotions
Discount Option | Description | Example |
|---|
Amount Off Order | Applies a fixed discount amount to the total order value. | $50 off the total order |
% Off Order | Applies a percentage discount to the total order value. | 20% off the full order |
Free Shipping | Removes shipping charges when the order meets the configured conditions. | Free shipping on orders over $50 |
Product Based Promotions
This type of promotion apply the discount to specific products. These are useful when you want to discount selected products, apply a percentage off particular items, or create quantity-based offers such as multibuy discounts.
Product Based Promotions
Discount Option | Description | Example |
|---|
Amount Off Product | Applies a fixed discount amount to selected products. | $10 off jackets |
% Off Product | Applies a percentage discount to selected products. | 20% off sneakers |
Multibuy Discount | Applies a discount when customers buy products in a specific quantity or combination. | Buy 2, get 1 discounted |
Promotion Setup Page
After you select the promotion type, the Promotion setup page opens. This page is where you define how the promotion should work, who can use it, where it applies, and when it becomes active.
The left side of the page contains the main promotion configuration fields. The right side shows supporting sections such as applicable sales channels and a details panel that summarizes the selected discount method and discount type. This helps you review the promotion setup as you configure it.

Eligibility
The Eligibility section controls who can use the promotion code. This is useful when a discount should only be available to a specific customer list, region, customer group, or another available customer attribute.
To define eligibility, select the attribute, choose the operator, and then select the value that must match. For example, if the selected attribute is Contact List, the promotion can be limited to contacts in a specific list.
Minimum Purchase Requirement
The Minimum Purchase Requirement field defines the minimum order value needed before the promotion can apply. This is useful for promotions such as free shipping above a certain order value or a fixed discount only after the cart reaches a set amount.
If this field is left empty, the promotion can apply without a minimum order value, as long as the other promotion conditions are met.
Max Usage
The Max Usage section controls how many times the promotion can be used. This helps merchants limit the total usage of a promotion during a campaign.
Use Total times it can be used to set an overall usage limit. Select Once Per Contact when each customer should only be able to use the promotion one time.
Activate Date/Time
The Activate Date/Time section controls the promotion schedule. The start date and time define when the promotion becomes active, while the end date and time define when it expires.
This is useful for time-bound campaigns such as seasonal sales, weekend offers, flash sales, or limited-time customer discounts.
Sales Channels
The Sales Channels section defines where the promotion can be used. A promotion only applies to the selected sales channels, so this section should be reviewed carefully before saving.
At least one sales channel must be selected for the promotion to be applicable. This helps merchants control whether the promotion applies to a specific store, channel, or sales environment.
Note: Customers can apply only one discount code per order at checkout. Multiple discount codes cannot be combined. If discounts need to work together, use automatic product discounts instead of combining coupon codes and automatic discounts.
