Is there any documentation for best practices when it comes to setting up a blog/news section?

I feel like I'm missing something. My client has a blog, a news section, and a recent events section. Technically, they're all a blog type. I can't seem to find any info on how to tag blog posts, create different post types or even categorise them.

Is there any docs anywhere, or is there anywhere I should be looking to for inspiration? Here's my current idea:

Create a page for each post type, and filter the posts based on a tag or category. I can't seem to find a way to tag or categorise posts though. Is this even a possibility?

I've just realised I can create content types. That should be good enough for the different 'categories', but I still need to be able to sort via a tag somehow.

For example, I have 'Recent Events', in which they will be tagged by the season they happened in (Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring). I can build a filter, that's simple - however, I can't for the life of me figure out how to tag a blog post lol.

Neto's blogs are very simple and are really just static content pages like the rest of the site. You can organize them into a category tree, but tags aren't supported. It could possibly be implemented with some custom template code but would be quite complex.

Wow, this seems like a huge oversight. I've found so much of Neto so good, but the lack of tags is pretty lame. Thanks for your help, I'll just go without for now and hope it's implemented later down the track

Neto is primarily an ecommerce system so only has basic CMS features. Although it has "Blog" as a content type by default, that's just a label on a static page content type. If you need more advanced features you might be better off hosting your blog with a third party.

For a simple blog, the category tree can at least give you some sort of organization.

You can probably get a similar effect by adding "related categories" to your blog. These can be product categories, brands, or any other pages on your site.

You could create a content type called "tags", much like a product category, and create individual categories for each tag. When viewing your blog post these links can display and work much like traditional blog tags, taking you to the "category" which has these related articles on them.

You might need to do some editing in the template files to display tags in a traditional blog manner, but I think it would work.

Thanks for the idea. I had a look into doing it this way, but it started to become an out of scope item. The original conversation with my client, was to import their existing blog, which is just a basic grid without tags or anything, so I'll leave it at that. If they want to pay more, they can have their categorised blogs
