I'd like to remove the email icon & link that appears in the footer.

This is not the link under the contact us heading that can be changed in business details.

It appears above all the heading in the footer and is just an email icon with no description.

The icon you're referring to is part of the Frame theme you're using.

If you populate your social media addresses in Settings & Tools > Business Details the icon won't look so out of place.
