Paypal Checkout - no invoice numbers on transactions or in bank feed.. anyone else?

We've switched back to the old PayPal Express due to the ongoing issue with PayPal Checkout so we're once again enjoying having invoice numbers listed on transactions in PayPal and on our bank feed.

The whole time we were using Paypal Checkout, no invoice numbers showed in those places, making it unnecessarily awkward to match transactions where buyer details didn't match precisely with the PayPal details... we're not looking forward going back to that situation. 😑

Was this a problem for everyone using PayPal Checkout? Or can someone confirm that they used PayPal Checkout and had invoice numbers showing in PayPal's InvoiceID and Memo fields?

This problem affects everyone on the new integration. I raised it during development and the response was:

"We initially wanted to implement this, however, the way the checkout and PayPal API works means we couldn't use existing workflows. It is something we intend to add to the integration but likely at a later stage. "

Just FYI, "later stage" is Maropost code for "never".

It is a pain, and a significant step backwards for the integration. I really struggle to get Maropost developers to understand the importance of reconciliations and what's involved in real-world bookkeeping. Unfortunately they are too far removed from real businesses.

Brief update: Maropost got back to me (only a few hours after Erik's reply actually) with an encouraging-sounding response this issue, in a week or two I hope to have some useful data on the accuracy of their response.
