How to increase the max character length of a text field

Hey everybody. I'm attempting to increase the max character length for the first line of text (headline) in a stacked-banner, home-page advert. The default is 50 characters. I'm want to use a clients' testimonial as the advert text ... a quote of a few sentences with their name and position underneath. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also ... thinking out loud ... I could switch the headline text and description text so the the longer description was above the headline. I've been working with the templates to achieve this as a workaround but no success so far.

It's not possible to increase the 50 character limit for the headline, but your idea of swapping the description and headline will definitely work.

Advert templates are stored in templates\thumbs\advert. If you're talking about the homepage carousel banners, that is carousel.template.html.

Just swap the headline and description tags (or restyle as you require).
