Requesting better address validation, based on the integrated carriers being used.
To lock-down or prompt only inputs in address fields that will be accepted by those carriers that are used by ourselves.
examples
1) Address fields accept over 50 characters. When I have requested that this be restricted to 40 (as is the limit for Australia Post and we get an error when we try to submit a consignment), I have been told it can't be restricted due to other customers /carriers being able to use all those lines.
2) What Australia Post will allow as a State is different to what DHL eCommerce will for international consignments. Comparing the valid suburbs, postcodes, states for each carrier should validate what is allowed for the carrier being use for international shipping.
3) Non English characters. If a carrier doesn't accept anything non English the validation should only accept English charracters.
This puts the onus back on the customer placing the order to tailor an address based on their superior knowledge of where they live or are wanting an item shipped.
Saving time for us and room for error consolidating addresses to suit the carrier that the order will be consigned with.
