where you have duplicated customers and you make some inactive, you can still post orders to them, which is ridiculous. The most you get is a message saying that account is inactive and asking if you want to post to it. The reason you make it inactive is so people cant post to it. Please either change this functionality or give another option to block customers so they cannot be used without actively going into the customer master record and reactivating it as you do with products.
