One Massive feature that Neto is missing is the ability to do Post Checkout One Click Upsells and Downsells AFTER Checkout, and Order Form Bumps on the Checkout page.
Both the Order Form Bump and the Post Checkout Upsell & Downsell capabilities are really important for all ecommerce businesses, because they tie in to customer buying psychology. The absolute best time to sell additional products to someone is immeadiately after they have just committed to buy something from you. When people buy something, they get a dopamine surge in their brain called the 'buyer's high', and while this is active that is when people are most likely to buy something else. It's how McDonalds added multi-millions of dollars to their bottom line by getting all their checkout staff to as "Would you like Fries with that?"
And No, the existing pre checkout Upsell & Cross Sell features are NOT 'the same thing'. The KEY difference is that the Upells & Downsells are presented AFTER the customer has clicked confirm on their initial order. So the initial order is secured, and then the Upsells and Downsells are presented as extra One Time Offers only available after checkout (with special discount or combined shipping or something) that the customer can add to their order with ONE CLICK.
The lack of these features is actually making us consider ditching Neto and going back to Shopify where these capabilities are at least available as add-on apps.
Adding these features would modernize Neto from a late 90's or early 2000's style of shopping cart to being a truely leading edge shopping cart.
Order Form Bumps are the simplest to add, and should work as follows:
* On the checkout page, there should be the ability to add a checkbox that will add an additional configurable product to the order as an Order Form Bump.
* It should be a configurable box on the checkout that can have a product image thumbnail, a short html text description and a checkbox to add the product to the order.
* The product added should be configurable to be any product, including recurring billing products like membership subscriptions.
* It should be possible to configure the product to be pre-added and the customer has to untick the checkbox to remove it.
Post Checkout One Click Upsells & Downsells should work as follows:
* After the customer has clicked the confirm button on the checkout page and the payment is being processed, they are then taken to one or more upsell offers.
* The customer can add these to their order with One Click. Buttons for "Yes Please" or "No Thanks" are shown on the Upsell page.
* Clicking Yes would take the customer to then next Upsell (if one is configured) or to the Thank You page with their order summary.
* Clicking No would take the customer to a Downsell offer (if one is configured) or to the Thank You page with their order summary.
* There should be a configurable maximum number of Upsell & Downsell offers presented to the customer after they complete checkout.
* The upsells and downsell offers presented should be driven by what is in the cart, and products should be able to be configured as post checkout upsells and downsells of each other.
* For example, if customer adds a Yoga Mat to cart then a post checkout upsell offer could be a carry bag as a One Time Offer at special pricing, and then the next Upsell offer could be a Water Bottle as another One Time Offer at special pricing.
* If the customer's initial shopping cart order was a Yoga Mat and Carry Bag, then the Upsells presented would automatically adjust to be the Water Bottle and then maybe a Yoga DVD.
* Even more awesome would be if the logic for choosing Upsells and Downsells to present could consider the Customer's previous purchases. If they already previouly purchased the Yoga DVD for example, don't show that as an Upsell for the Yoga mat, instead show a bottle of cleaning solution for cleaining their yoga mat.
* The ultimate version would make use of some big data AI smarts to figure out which Upsell and Downsell offers to present based on previous behaviour of which products are purchased together from all other customers sales order data.
* Along with one off products, it should be possible to have recurring billing products also presented as Post Checkout One Click Upsells so that we can offer things like membership programs and subscription boxes etc.
* The upsell and downsell offer pages should be able to be completely customised in terms of the content and design of them - like full on content pages which can show any rich html - images, copy, video, etc, and have buttons for the customer to say "Yes Please, Add it to my Order" or "No Thanks".
If you want to get more in depth on these kind of capabilities and why they are super important, read the book 'Ecommerce Evolved' by Tanner Larsson - just the first few chapters will be enough, and treat it like a specification of what you need to build.

I know this is kind of a long post, but in all seriousness we really are considering moving to another shopping cart that supports these capabilites. We really don't care how many accounting integrations or shipping providers or other nick-nacks that get added to Neto if these features aren't available.
Shopify can do this with the addition of third party add ons, specifically:
http://zipify.com/apps/ocu/
https://carthook.com/checkout
https://apps.shopify.com/product-upsell
Even WooCommerce can do it with the addition of plugins.
This should really be core functionality of a Shopping Cart in 2018.
Hope you guys can add it :-)
