I need to allow backorders where product on my site can be ordered in advance. To allow this, the site wide allow backorders is on. However we constantly have items made obsolete by suppliers and whilst we need to sell stocks out, we can't prevent backorders on an item we won't get again. On the weekend a customer bought and paid for 48 pieces of an item but we only had 9 left. The system put the other 31 on back order. The process to refund is also very tricky then. We need an override of the automatic backorder on a by product basis to prevent backorders on stock that will never be available.
