Change Category menu to custom menu

Hi,

 

using the classic theme, I want to change the category menu across the top of the screen to a new menu I have created that gives me more freedom with which product categories are show left to right and the child categories for each one and their order.

 

I have been poking about in the header template but can't work out exactly which lines of code to change to implement this.

It's hard to give specific advice without being able to access your theme templates.

 

However, your header menu is almost certainly located in /src/templates/headers

/template.html

 

Every theme is based on Skeletal as a starting point, so as an example these lines create the header menu in Skeletal:

This is using a curated menu (one which you build in the control panel). If your theme is creating a menu automatically from your categories then that code will look different, but should stilll be in a similar place.

 

Take a backup of your templates before messing with anything!
