Did you know that your web browser and website use a technology called caching to speed up the time it takes to view a web page? Caching saves a copy of the data both on web servers around the world and in your web browser, which means that images can be cached for months. To ensure that you're viewing the most up-to-date version of a web page, it's important to clear your website and browser cache regularly.
To clear the cache on your website, simply click the "Refresh caches" link in the bottom left-hand side of your Maropost Commerce control panel.
Your website cache is automatically purged every two hours, but you can purge it manually if you want to see changes before the automatic purge.
Clearing the cache in your web browser is a two-step process. First, you need to delete the cached files, and then you need to refresh the web page that contains the image. DNS Cache
It's also important to clear your DNS cache at times to speed up the process and reduce the traffic on the DNS servers. DNS resolves the domain name to IP addresses so people do not have to remember a series of numbers (IP addresses) when trying to visit a website. Most computer operating systems will store or cache DNS lookups on your computer locally, so you may need to clear the cache to see changes.
To flush your local DNS cache in Windows, open the command line window and type "ipconfig /flushdns" at the prompt. In MacOS, you can open a Terminal window and type "lookupd -flushcache" for 10.4 and below or "dscacheutil -flushcache" for 10.5 and above. In Linux, use the command "sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart" to restart the ncsd daemon.
Remember, clearing your website and browser cache regularly can help you view the most up-to-date version of a web page and ensure that you're seeing the latest changes.
