Neto has two associated features:
- Kitted products
- Inventory: Warehouse quantity
But the association between them is broken. Severely.
Neto has written a blog about the warehouse quantity concept for kitted SKUs, then in that same blog has stated that it doesn't work and shouldn't be used. Embarrassing to say the least, but not surprising at all.
In a nutshell…
- Kitted stock quantity calculated from the component quantities
- Mostly, the warehouse quantity (think of it as 'pre assembled') is zero
- If we want to pre-assemble (eg via stock adj) we can modify the warehouse quantity
- However, an order only ever takes the kitted quantity into account (ie an order it placed, the committed comes out of kitted qty). Even if there is a warehouse qty > 0, it is never assigned to the order
- So warehouse qty is never used for an order, but it does factor into the total available qty of a product
Furthermore, the RMA process is equally broken
- We can RMA a kitted product by working at the component level (for drop downs, amounts etc)
- This can be extremely painful for a product with a lot of components
- There is an option in the RMA to roll up the product to the single 'kitted' SKU
- If we're returning to stock, this will thus increase the warehouse qty by 1
- But the components are not affected in terms of qty
- Thus, back to the above issue, we have a warehouse qty > 0 but future orders cannot make use of the stock
It's a sad reflection on Maropost that, after I've raised this "bug" many times I keep being told to raise it as an idea. So here it is, and idea to fix your broken system please.
