Is there a 'Feature Request' place anywhere ..

Working with a new client establishing a convincing 'staging' for templates is incredibly tedious (and it's hard to convince clients to pay for stuff that is 'no change visible').

Products are ok to import but themes inc many complex menus is a pain - it'd be nice to have a 'staging' export/import process or at least some sort of theme changer that allowed us to work on a staging theme (wouldn't help with menus but ok).

As for your specific problem, are you trying to show work in progress on a theme before it goes live? If so you can copy the existing theme, and name the folder to create your own working copy of the theme without affecting the live site.

To then preview what a theme will look like, enter the website address, followed by /?nview= and the name of your theme e.g. mywebstore.neto.com.au/?nview=skeletal.

Excellent thank you - I didn't know about the ?nview= bit (I did just find it in the tweaks section).

I've always spun up a shell instance for this - though arguably that may still be relevant for changes that are more than 'skin' deep.
