Default price is being used instead of the Multi-level Pricing

I have set up Multi Level pricing for my products based on quantity.

1-5=69.23

6-10=65.77

11-20=64.04

21-50=62.31

This displays correctly on the product page.

However when the product is added to the cart, the system is applying the default unit price rather than using a price from the Multi Level prices.

How do I get the system to use prices from teh Multi Level price schedule?

I've consulted with our support team regarding the issue you're experiencing with Multi-level Pricing not being applied correctly in the cart.

The support team has identified a potential cause for the discrepancy. In your current setup, the Stock tracking is set to "Do not track," and the variants do not have any stock or have negative stock values. As a result, the system is not picking up the price range properly (starting from 1-5 = the value on the multilevel), as it relies on the minimum stock availability to determine the pricing tier. So we need a test SKU that has a variant stock value of at least 1.

Are you saying multi-level pricing doesn't work properly on any product marked as "Do not track inventory" (ie. virtual)?

This seems like a bug in Neto. It's reasonable to want to offer multi-level pricing on non-inventory products. For example, they might be something that the merchant creates themselves and hence doesn't need inventorying.

If so, can you please get this filed as a bug?

We are manufacturers, so we typically don't have any products in stock. We produce to order. We also drop ship from other manufacturers, who produce on order, so again, we don't hold stock of particular items. If we start adding stock levels that we don't actually have, it seems that might cause problems in the future.

Our support team has provided further insight and a resolution to address this issue.

According to their findings, the cart will prioritize the cheapest pricing option available for a product. This means that if a product is on promotion and the promotional price is cheaper than the multi-level pricing (MLP), the promotional price will be used until a multi-level pricing band is reached that offers a cheaper price, at which point the MLP will take effect.

Additionally, it's essential to consider the store price for the product. If the store price is cheaper than all the multi-level pricing bands, the store price will be used.

Regarding the stock tracking setting "do not track," it won't impact pricing as long as there is always enough stock available (unlimited stock). However, if stock tracking is enabled and there isn't enough stock available, customers won't be able to purchase the product at the cheaper price as there won't be enough quantity to add to the cart.

Lastly, please note that if the unit price is cheaper than the multi-level pricing, it will be used as a priority.

Great video showing the problem. I think I can see what's going wrong.

First of all, my big tip is to never use the Export and Import buttons on the product page. They look convenient but they will make your life a misery in the long run (as you've witnessed).

Instead, use Settings > Export Data and Settings > Import Data. Always choose a Complex import or export, and then use the wizard. Neto has an extremely powerful import/export system, and it's one of the platform's best features. You can do a lot once you get your head around it.

In my experience, Price (Default) doesn't work very well. I'm not sure why it even exists - there is no Price (Default) field internally. If you're using customer groups, then you'll have a table of pricing for each SKU:

Import to those fields instead, eg. Price (Retail) - yours will have different names.

It may also be worth checking Settings > All Settings & tools > Customer Settings > Default customer group id. That's supposed to control which group the "Default" price maps to. But like I said, it doesn't work great and isn't needed.

When you are doing a complex import, you can have as many or as few fields as you want. So you could create a CSV file with just SKU and Price (Retail), and not worry about the rest. It means you're much less likely to accidentally corrupt another field. You can also save imports for future use once you have the perfect file structure - we do this for importing new products, using a standard template with the specific fields we need.
