Hi all, just wondering how you manage custom sorting products within a category on your website.

The issue is that we have many categories where I would like to add complimentary products to a category but I want them to display towards the bottom of the category. For example we have a "Casino Party Supplies" category and after showing the specific casino items I then want to show pretty much our full range of red and green products (plates, cups, balloons etc.)

 

The issue is that there is no sort order that would allow me to achieve this. Previously when we used Magento we were able to set sort order on a per category basis.

 

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a way around this? If you've done a custom development what is the logic behind the sorting.

Neto has support for custom sort orders. When you edit a product there are actually two sort orders you can specify, Sort Order 1 and Sort Order 2. What actually happens with these depends on your front-end template. Tweaking the possible sort orders in a category is pretty easy, there is a recent post about it here:

If you really need control over this on a per-category basis, you could add a custom field to the categories which lets you specify the sort order to be used by default on that category.
