Google GTIN requirements for Shopping listings

Trying to upload our stuff to Google Shopping and it's telling me I have to have a GTIN for every product. We've got 6000 products. Not all of them have UPCs or anything akin to that because they're from the Australian market. Anyone else had this issue?

You'll soon start to run into problems if you want to list them on any market places. Ebay, Amazon, etc are all expecting GTINs. It can be very frustrating if you are importing or producing your own products.

The best way forward is to actually allocate your own EAN barcodes to the products. You can buy (probably legitimate) batches of EANs on eBay. If you can, get those barcodes printed or stuck on the products. But that isn't essential - just knowing the barcodes is enough.

It's a pain, but it's worth it.

what happens if its the parent products being pushed to Google feed?

we have the UPC/GTIN for ALL the variants (colour/size) but i dont have a GTIN for the 'parent' product..?

Should we be pushing the individual variants to google instead of the parent?

Yes, you should be listing the individual variants (child products), with [item_group_id] set the parent's SKU to group them together:

Neto's default export for Google Merchant Feeds is only very basic. If you rely on this for your business I'd highly recommend reaching out to a partner to get it tweaked for your needs. @Peter Harback is an expert on merchant feeds.
