Develop the Pick N Pack app to support using the phone camera instead of requiring an additional barcode scanner device for the scanning of product barcodes. Pick n Pack was originally developed to work on the Ipod and dated back prior to the advances in phone technology and specifically camera and camera software technology. Apple in their own stores has now has moved away from issuing staff with phones with attached barcode scanner devices as their phones now read barcodes and QR codes. Removing the need for additional attached devices decreases the overall cost and it also decreases the number of devices where something can go wrong or requires updating. It also means that as phones are updated you do not also need to keep updated the attached scanner devices. I spoke with Apple Business about this and they have confirmed that this is definitely the direction that they have gone and strongly suggest app developers move in the same direction. They also indicated that the additional efficiencies that they have achieved by going this way have been significant.
